Consolidation going well

Haven’t posted for a while but really pleased with progress

On Christmas Day ran my first Parkrun in 37:05, absolutely shattered but delighted to have achieved my goal of getting round without stopping.

Since felt strange not having a goal, so I’ve focussed on running at least twice a week and a Saturday Parkrun for the past 4 weeks as per advice in Consolidation Group.

Tried a bit of interval running ...aargh!! My body not built to sprint

But just went out and tried to run a reasonable distance between 2.5 and 5 k and tried to enjoy it.

Also, agreed to visit several Parkruns with a pal to try different routes, good fun and interesting to see the differences between courses. We’ve done 2 so far, another 4 to go in our Parkrun tourism. Planning to run with my son in London next Sat.

Repeated my Christmas Day run yesterday in 33:57, couldn’t believe it, still not fast, but getting easier and shows the result of getting miles in. Still find it really hard work and anxious if I can finish or not, but wouldnt have believed I could run under 34 min 4 weeks ago.

Chuffed old bird

To all those just starting out on C25k, it isn’t really about the time it takes, it’s about keeping going for 30 min and building up to 5k. Good luck to all, you can do it!

I’m enjoying more every week as it becomes more natural, rather than ‘what on earth am I doing, trying to run’?

Oh I can totally relate to that!

Great you tried parkrun and enjoyed it and doing some parkrun tourism.

It doesn't matter about speed (well I tell myself that until I go to parkrun🤣). The point is you are out and running and enjoying it.

Isn't being able to run just brilliant. 😊😊

It is, never thought I would become addicted to running

Used to see people jogging along a road in the rain and think they were bonkers

Now I’ve become that person in Lycra ..all down to C25k

Oh yes lycra as well. Now that's something I thought I'd never wear but with weight loss and more confidence I did buy it 🤣

Don’t know about you, but I still have a sense of disbelief that I’m doing it..but feel so much better for it and support and camaraderie from other runners helps so much
