Discrepancy between coach to 5k app and running app

I'm on week 8 – 5-minute walk + 28-minute run. Once I've finished the warm-up walk,, I track my run with Strava, while continuing to listen to the NHS Couch to 5k app. I've done the run twice now, and each time Strave says I've only run 23 minutes. Has anyone else had this discrepancy.

I haven't. However, when I want to check times, I'm really boring and use the clock on my mobile!

I’ll try that next time. It’s quite nice to be able to track distance though. I’m slow. Although nearing the end of the programme. I’m still a way off 5k...

Does the app have the option to increase the speed on it? I had that happen to me accidentally one morning when I was using the podcast, it had sped up to 1.5 times, my 5 minute warm up walk only took 3 minutes before I figured out how to reset the timing back to 1.

Thank you! That’s interesting and I’ll look into that. I’m so far off the 5k that I’m almost inclined to believe the tracker - that I’m actually only running for 23 mins -than the couch to 5k!

I just checked the app against my stopwatch and it was spot on. I've had issues with the app pausing mid session but that's usually something I've done, not an issue with the app itself.

Thank you.

Personally I wouldn't believe anything Strava tells you. I use it and my same three routes are always a different distance, with me supposedly running fast enough to beat the world record!!! It also pauses even if you stop very briefly to cross a road and doesn't always start again immediately you start running. At least you know with the pre-recorded app that the timing is correct. I've measured my runs using Google maps so I know how far they are more or less (all between 5k and 6k) so when Strava tells me I've run 6.5km (or its best is 8km) I know its not right.

Same here ... I use MapMyRun & it consistently tells me I’ve run for 1min 10secs longer than the c25k app ... I timed the c25k (albeit from my desk!) & it was spot on.

A bit frustrating as I’d like to know more accurately the distance I’m covering / split times etc ...
