Exhausted after a run

Hi all, I have found that getting a run out of the way in the morning before I start work is my best course of action. I end up procrastinating too much otherwise and spend all day trying to talk myself out it. Anyway, knowing I have a run day ahead, I get to bed at a good time (2230) and wake up at around 0615. I start work at 0730 (wfh at the moment) and I'm finding by 0930 I am absolutely exhausted. I could just fall asleep! Any tips on how I can help myself? I drink plenty and have breakfast when I get home.

Thanks in advance!

I work a condensed week so I get Friday's off (I have a 6 month old so this is very useful!) so I have agreed hours which start at 0730. I usually get back at 0700 ish and shower then log on, often breakfast is at my desk while I catch up with emails etc. Maybe I need to get up a bit earlier?

I’m going to sound crazy but I start work at 9, but I wake up at 5:15 and go on my run at 6:15 and I find that time gives me enough time to chill and get ready inbetween my run and inbetween heading to work. Hope that’s some sort of help!

Your times are the same as mine, I find 5:15, gives me a chance to get all set up and have a drink and half a banana...then I’m out by 6:15 ish.....it’s lovely out there at that time of the morning.

I have a banana as well haha! It’s nice and quiet which is what I prefer, get to say good morning to a few runners and see how they are doing too, and it just means less on the spot jogging for traffic!

I hate on the spot jogging! It’s nice when another runner gives you a nod or a wave 👋

If you sleep at 1030 pm and wake up at 615 that is good 7 hrs 45 mins which is more than sufficient for all (except toddlers and teenagers). Are you sure you sleep at 1030 or do you go to bed around then and spend time reading, checking mobile etc once on the bed . Is it 615 or does it extend too ? Are you a light sleeper? if you are feeling tired so soon in the morning your body is demanding an immediate attention. I would suggest to download a sleep app and assess the quality of your sleep. I have found sleep app quite useful in correcting my bad habits and now I sleep soundly for good 7 hours and feel energetic. I do my runs in the evening. Like yourself I get to bed around 10 and fall asleep by 1030 and wake up by 6. My mornings are reserved for meditation, pranayama and reflection.

I find evening runs far more relaxing where I am not hard pressed for time per se. I have experimented with morning runs but the stress of getting back on time so as not to be late for work enough to suck the joy out my runs and I made the switch to evening. I do morning runs on weekends only.

Maybe a pre run protein shake would be helpful as well 🤷🏻‍♂️

If I go before work, the baby is still asleep which is good. I find that running after work I'd be a bit cheeky as hubby has been with her all day then I'm finishing then straight out! Thanks for your reply x
