I've not posted here before but you lot of runners have inspired me to keep going all the way to week 9. I'm 53 and I was the chubby asthmatic in school that hid in the bushes on x country day...I hated running! I totally struggle in week 1...didn't see how i could possibly complete week 2...totally high fived the sky at week 3 when i hit 3 minutes, a completely pie in the sky idea when I started. I mastered the japanese slow jog which, until yesterday I thought was the only way to run up a mountain. It's funny but the turning point came for me at week 3...if this programme could get me running 3 mins...it could get me running 30...and I've had total faith in it, and Michael Johnson , since then. I've been in lockdown with the ex and not happily so C25K and my headphones have been a lifesaver. Anyway..week 8 ..first 2 runs I hit 3.15k and 3.16k and thinking ' ah y'know the distance doesn't matter'...and for the first 14 mins of this run I'm steadily slow jogging up my mountain..and its really hard slog..and I'm just waiting for mr Johnson to tell me I'm halfway so I can turn around and run like a gazelle π€£ back down my mountain...so yesterday my last run of wk 8 ..and its raining..and I change my music to something punchier...and I run...and I'm not thinking of the halfway...I just run. And it feels like a real good run ..I'm enjoying every step. And at the end I check mapmyrun ..and think this has got to be a mistake...so i check on google when i get home the distance...and no mistake......still can't believe this happened!!! Totally blown away! Have to say my leg muscles are a bit achy today but chuffed to bits!
Thought map my run was lying!: I've not posted... - Couch to 5K
Thought map my run was lying!
Oh yeah and the duration time included my warm up walk...didn't run over 28 mins
Wow that is amazing Melozz Well done! ππ I am only on W1R3 of C25Kand I'm thinking "how the hell am I going to complete this?" but you've really inspired me and made me want to keep going! Thank you! π And congrats! xx
You'll do it, honestly! Never thought I would get this far at all. Not saying its all easy cos its not...I've had some days when its been a real struggle and nearly packed it in....reading this forum has kept me going and inspired me too. Perfect the slow jog...it really builds your stamina ...I'm sure I wouldn't have got this result without it...and trust the programme..it totally works....Happy Running π
Welcome aboard, excellent run, well done π
