W2 R3 - the knee pain is getting me - ouch!

Morning all 😊🌻

I’ve managed to battle my way to W2 R3, and feeling really proud of myself to have got this far when at first I couldn’t even do W1 R1 (the slow jogging advice helped wonders!).

I did have a couple of comments this morning from 2 rude men driving past making fun of my slow running but I’m trying to just ignore that and stay positive 💪🏼

Anyway, I’ve developed quite bad knee pain on the inner sides of both knees? It started the day before yesterday after my last run and I went out today and ran through the pain but now they’re very sore! It is just the inner sides of the knee and sort of the lower part of the knee just under.

Anyone experienced this before or have any advice? I’ve put some ibuprofen rub on it and I’m taking it easy for the rest of the day.

Thank you!

Well done.

There is advice in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Thank you! Sadly I’m still not able to barely walk let alone run! Just really hope that I don’t have to start again from the beginning 😬

I had inner knee pain at the same stage as you. I think mine was due to the old trainers I was wearing. As it was lockdown I found a new pair of trainers in the wardrobe which helped. As soon as I could I had a gait analysis done. Since investing in proper running shoes, touch wood, my knees haven't ached.

I would recommend putting ice on your knees and taking it easy for a couple of days . Don't run while it is painful as you don't want to have a further injury.

A gait analysis would be invaluable for you, especially if you trainers are an older pair.

I hope it improves for you.

Thank you! Sadly I’m still not able to run and can actually barely walk 😬

When I do eventually get better I’ve researched somewhere where I can get an analysis done - so that’ll be good 😊
