I have completed the C25K and have “run” for 30 mins every other day since, But I always really struggle with the first 10 mins especially finding my pace ( I am very slow!) any tips would be gratefully appreciated!

It is not just you.

This post explains the Toxic Ten healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Don't try to push in the first few minutes.

Hi, your doing great as long as you keep moving you legs that's what counts, remember the apps advice it's not a race go at your own pace.

Sometimes your mind plays tricks on us and we think we need to run faster in order to be fitter, quite the opposite your body will decide how much you can do....

As you run try thinking about stuff to trick your mind, and before long you have done it, I have no end of arguments with myself lol...good luck🙂💯🏃‍♂️

Firstly well done on your comments and keep it going it sounds like you’re doing brilliant. As a Couch to 5K graduate of some four years myself can totally embrace what you’re saying. I remember those feelings too as very well nearly gave up but didn’t and now truth is running saved my life. If there was one tip that’ll help it’s to take your time and build up your body strength too including some core stability this will make you a better runner in the long term. There’s absolutely loads of information online but try the running channel it’s full of good sound free advice. youtube.com/channel/UCX7dV4...

I think it's all in the warm up. It seems to me that as I've got older I need a longer time to prepare. I've found that if I do a couple of 100m jogs and 1 minute of star jumps, I get my heart rate up and the first 5 -10 min becomes much less unpleasant. This in turn then makes the whole run more enjoyable. (I am now in wk 9)

That’s interesting. I’m in w7 and a week or so ago thought I need more than a 5 minute walk to warm up, so I joined the strength and flex community for ideas. But not used any yet!!

I start gently and then speed up if I feel like it. Some days I do, some days I don’t.

I'm having the same problem. No problem running for 30 mins. Can't quite reach 5k. Also having problems trying to find the best way to breathe as I'm an asthmatic but it doesn't put me off running. It's hard work but the sense of achievement is wonderful.
