Anyone here with othostatic dizziness who is running?

I'd love to know how it works for you...

When I'm running I'm fine. When I'm cooling down and walking I'm fine. It's after I've stopped that I get really shaky/dizzy. The shakiness usually lasts for a few hours and I either if I want to stay in nature stay there for an hour or so before driving home, or lie down and rest after.

Do you run anyways?

Really it's something I hope to discuss with my GP but I've no idea when that's going to happen :(.

I always ran despite afterwards. I'd just love to hear others experiences. Know that others keep running anyways. And if you've any ways of dealing with it, that too.

I definitely can't run in the heat as the sun exacerbates dizziness as it is. (There are times it's better, times it's worse. I was planning on running today but will leave it until tomorrow because yesterday I was really dizzy - without running).

Running has given me a lot. I'm up to week 9. I don't want to just stop. And I know that it can give me a lot too. It's grounding. It's calming. Definitely improved my nonexistent stamina :) . It means I've stuck with something I've started which I rarely do despite how much I had to force myself to.

Thanks!!!

Are you drinking plenty? How long are you doing your cool down for? I know in the C25K they ask you to keep a brisk pace up but normally dizziness after exercise means your BP is dropping too quickly. I would try a longer cool down and start off brisk then gradually slow your pace down to a plodding walk. In our rehab classes we cool down for 10-15mins to try and prevent this. Hope this helps

Sometimes I walk for that long but I'll try :)

My blood pressure changes when I stand up too. Thanks for your response. I appreciate it...

I used to get this and I went and got checked out and my iron levels were low so I now take a daily supplement which has helped massively. Agree with the water intake too, make sure you’re super hydrated especially in today’s heat.

Thanks for replying! I drink enough but will wait until the heat passes before running. Unless I go in the evening...

Thanks!

That doesn’t sound nice to deal with 🙁

I had just put good luck on your run this eve but can see you’re delaying due to heat which is probably best thing to do.

Hope you find some answers to help alleviate the dizziness.

I'm hoping to run tonight and see... I hope it cools down a but to make it possible!!!!

You've got run 2 today!!! Though you've actually probably already done it looking at the time... 💕

Hey, I found trail trainers in my cupboard and I think they'll fit me for running (they're ones I bought and never really used after that hols because they can't be used for regular exercise).

Happy Thursday! Enjoy the sunshine...
