I’m new here and l am looking to become more active. I do have issues working out throughout the month because of severe PMS and pain. I can usually give my best a week a month and can’t do anything a week a month. The other 2 weeks I have motivation issues and horrible mood swings. Any advice? Thank you :)

Hi! Welcome. Well done for even getting going. PMS and mood swings are awful. Go easy on yourself. If you have to skip a few extra days then just skip them - there's no race to the finish line. If it's a long term thing then running will have to slot into your life anyway so just experiment with the time of day and route to find what works best for you. Also, this is going to sound really preachy but I've actually found that running has had a massive positive impact on my mood swings and other pms symptoms so here's hoping it helps you at least a little 🤞🤞

Thank you for sharing. I’ll do my best. I hope I can do some running during PMS. If it helps it’d be very welcome. It is a long term thing. So I need to find a way that works best.

Welcome to the forum and well done on

your intent.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

As far as motivation is concerned, it has to come from you........I can't make you run.

Write a list of all the reasons why you are doing this and look at it every time you waver.

There is only one person who will make you do this and only one person who will stop you.

Running regularly has a massive effect on most people's mental well being as expressed in this poll healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Enjoy your journey.
