W8R2 completed but not sure my running form is correct?!

W8R2 completed this morning, after reading lots of posts on here I checked my running/jogging form and it seems I normally run heel down first.

I’ve tried to change it this morning but it felt really uncomfortable- will it cause me injury in future?

I certainly don’t go fast- this mornings jog only accomplished almost 3 miles (I do live in rural Wales and it’s very hilly is my excuse and considering the 90 second runs in week one killed me I’m very pleased with the result so far)

Any tips on running form or an I wearing wrong trainers for road running? Currently have Nike zoom Dynamic.

Thank you

Are you in any pain? While heel striking isn’t the recommended way to reduce the impacts on your legs, if you’re not experiencing issues it’s not a big problem. The right shoe (for you) could get you landing a little differently. runnersworld.com/beginner/a...

Nike zoom soles are super comfortable and bounce well, I have Nike zoom Pegasus 35s that are just about at end of life... 36s still in the box, and 37s have just been released. As road shoes go they’re good and have a long pedigree... IF they’re the right shoe for the runner. Not sure if the Dynamic is a shoe specifically designed for running, but as it has the zoom sole it’s better than a lot of other shoes.

Finding the right shoe means having a look at how you run. The soon the be open again specialist running stores can help with this as they are able to offer “gait analysis” which involves running on a treadmill and then looking at a video of your feet and ankles. That will put you in a type of shoe... and the most comfortable of that type, with the right milage spec, is the perfect shoe for you. Most running shoes sold in other sports shops are “neutral” and while very comfortable, won’t suit more than about 20% of runners.

Changing the way your feet land does take time and concentration... I had a similar problem as I tend to run on my toes, which works the calves hard, and can make me run too fast... it took me a few weeks to get used to not landing that way.

Thanks so much, I appreciate all the information.

Had my Nike zooms a while, bought them originally for treadmill & gym classes but since moving to rural Wales we don’t have local gyms just lots of lush countryside & quiet lanes.

Gait analysis does look appealing thank you 😊
