W9R2 in the bag but!

I completed W9R2 last night and while I should feel happy, this niggling ankle problem is getting me down. I’m taking longer rests between runs than I want to to keep it manageable and it’s nothing more than uncomfortable during runs now but the morning after it’s so sore. I’m hobbling around this morning unable to put my full weight on the ankle. I know that this will ease throughout the day But it’s really taking the shine off of my new found love for running. W9R3 up next, probably at the weekend and a nice 12yr old bottle of rum waiting to be opened to celebrate achieving this goal. I will seek out a physio once restrictions have been eased and I’m sure that will help but until then it’s hobble on through I guess.

When I had tendonitis in my knee I took a month off running (only on wk 3 anyway)

Went to see a podiatrist who recommended orthotics, (my right foot rolls out). I paid £50 for them , they are quite rigid but fit in my trainers. I'm on wk 8 now (struggling with 28 min) but had no more problems with my knee or shins .because my foot rolls out ,I was always having painful shins , but no more.

Might be worth a trip to a podiatrist . Your feet take all the weight. I went to a physio first , he said put heel lifts in my shoes , that's when I went to the podiatrist to get some proper ones, she disagreed with the physio and suggested the whole orthotics. So glad she did.

Hi,

As it happens I have orthotic insoles as I have over pronation. I also have running shoes that are supportive for over pronation after having a gait analysis done. I had physio on my ankle 18 months ago for the same problem and my physio refereed me to a specialist as I’m flat footed. I had insoles made for me that cost over £200 😢 and to be fair they work great in my day to day shoes but I can’t run with them in. Way too uncomfortable. But you have given me an idea. I have been furloughed for about 10 weeks and ordinarily I’d be wearing my work shoes with orthotic insoles for 8hrs + per day. I have been living in flip flops, slippers and my gardening shoes for the last 10 weeks with the half hour to 40 mins of running shoes three time a weeks. Perhaps that has aggravated the problem! 🤔

Sounds like a good idea and easy to try it with nothing lost. Good luck I hope it works and good luck for your final run of C25K at weekend

They say flip flops and slippers are worst thing for your feet/ankles
