I have now completed the C25K programme with a very successful run on Saturday. 4km distance has been my record so far in 33ish minutes.
But at week 9, run 3 - as I approached the 30th minute and noted my distance was around 3.6km I was feeling great and decided to continue to the 4km mark, at which point I continued to 4.5km and then to 5km (43 minutes).
Needless to say I was absolutely elated to firstly complete my final run and to be able to continue to my furthest distance yet.
When I started 9 weeks ago, I had never been out for a run. And although I have found it tough at times I have gained so much from the programme and this forum has really helped too to keep my confidence and motivation.
My best advice to anyone who needs it is:
1. make sure to hydrate well, it really makes all the difference
2. Stretch well before and after your run (I didnβt really start this until week 6 ish but it made a huge difference in how my body felt)
3. Slow down your pace and actually enjoy the feeling
4. Ignore your distance and concentrate on being able to run for a solid amount of minutes.
If I can do it, anyone can!
(And Iβve now actually recruited my father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law to the programme too, spread the word!)
