Running for my Mum

Today is the first anniversary of my Mum’s death. I made a commitment on her birthday in January, with the ‘promise present’ to her that I would focus more on my weight loss journey and improve my overall fitness.

I have lost almost two stone since then (over six stone overall) and started exercising for the first time in over 40 years.

Today I ran for 20 minutes without a break as part of the C25K programme (W5R3). I did it for her. I know she would have been proud of me. I wish I had done it whilst she was still alive.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t as hard for me as that first run, when that one minute run seemed almost impossible. I’m amazed at that and how far I have come.

Now onto week 6.

I also still have 3 pounds to lose to get out of the ‘obese’ category and into the overweight’ one. I hope to do that before I graduate from C25K.

Thank you to this programme for helping me achieve things I never thought I could do. Thanks too to this supportive community. I’ve learned lots and gained strength from your comments.

I know that your mother would have been very proud of you for running run 3 of week 5, congratulations, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs, just take it slowly 🏃‍♀️ 👍.
