Cannot believe that almost 9 weeks have gone by and that I have stuck to this programme consistently even when my head really really really didn’t want to go out the door for those runs (e.g the morning after a 12hour night shift or the evenings where the couch and a G&T seemed more appealing)!!

Appreciated the cooler weather today so extended my route a little bit and when the lovely Laura told me I had run for 30mins I decided to continue on just a smidge as I had a feeling from my Nike app that I was fairly close to reaching 5k. Well 2mins later and I had reached the magic number! Thrilled!

When I started this, I was so ready for the walking breaks after a 60second run in week one. I felt that there was no way I could ever run for 30minutes solid. Even though in the past I would have considered myself a runner (many years ago now). I felt self conscious when gazelles in their crop tops went leaping on by. I felt ashamed that I had let my fitness get to such a poor state.

I’m now one stone lighter, so much fitter and stronger. It feels wonderful!

I hope this post helps anyone struggling to get motivated to put on their trainers and get out the door because you can do this!

Happy running everyone 😀 And apologies for the rambling post!

Well done you 👏😀

I am just back from run 2 week 7 and like you I can't believe how far I've come on this journey.

I've never been a runner, hated it in fact, and really miss my early morning swims, but here we both are.

Congratulations on the 5k! I doubt very much I will be anywhere near that distance at the end of week 9 but am so happy to be running for 25 minutes non-stop right now. 😀

To echo the sentiment - this plan works. So put on your trainers and let's go ! 👟🎽🏃‍♀️

Well done for picking up something you hated whilst you have to give up your swimming. Hopefully 🤞🏻🤞🏻you’ll be able to get back to swimming sometime soon. It’ll be really interesting to see how the running has affected your swimming- I wonder if you’ll find it easier?!

Absolutely not important about the distance! I didn’t run anywhere near 5k for R2 so I think the stars just aligned that day 😂 Like you, it’s just great to know that we can run solidly for a good chunk of time

Hope the rest of week 7 went well 👍🏼

Thanks!

I have to say I actually enjoyed the final run of week 7 😱. Maybe there's a closet runner in me somewhere?...

With swimming timing and breathing is everything. I reckon I will have to learn how to breathe all over again once we are allowed back into the water. 🏊‍♀️

Enjoy your running 🏃‍♀️😀
