So this morning I completed 25 minutes of running and I am still on a high! 2 months ago I would have never imagined being able to run for this long!
Now that I am getting into longer runs I am wondering what you all listen to while running? I like to listen to podcasts. Do you have any favourites? Do you prefer music?
Bring on week 7 😁

Food is my thing; reading about it, the science of it, shopping for it (not quite as much fun in lockdown) and cooking of course. I discovered Desert Island Dishes in Week 8 & am still enjoying during my consolidation runs a few weeks after graduating. Light hearted and interesting & a great distraction during those longer runs.
I listen to music as I feel the beat keeps me moving. I find jogging playlists on spotify with music that I mostly dont know. If I know the songs I find that I'm mentally counting the minutes until the end of the song which doesn't help. The one I've listened to for the past few is called 'Run Wild'. I've never tried podcasts, maybe I'll have a search and see if anything catches my interest and give it a try for my next run.
I tend to listen to the birds, the occasional wasp (they get me moving faster 🤣) and the breeze in the trees at this time of year... in the winter I’m a sucker for a funny podcast that can also make me think, so my favourite is “no such thing as a fish”
Well done on running the 25 min, I completed that yesterday too. I have long uphills the first 12.5 min so set my music to a slower tempo, anything that is easy listening then after I go for more upbeat music, sometimes tune in to radio 😀
Well done!! I’ve just finished W6R1 and have been listening to podcasts for most runs, I started off listening to music but it didn’t distract me enough from clock watching!
Although I can’t seem to remember anything from the podcasts after my run, they do manage to distract me during. Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place is a good listen.
Well done in your 25mins! I’ve just switched to podcasts from music and found them much more distracting (in a good way!) makes the time go much faster. I’ve been enjoying ‘healthy runner’ podcasts for some good running tips and I also enjoy ‘the health code’ for general fitness, health motivation!
