Consolidation run #2

Did my second consolidation run this morning after graduating last Friday. Wow, running in the wind is hard work! 🥵 Especially when it’s against you for most of it. Can’t say I enjoyed it 😅 But battled through and managed 34 mins in which I achieved 5.1k, yay! Still love the feeling afterwards! 🙌🏃🏻‍♀️

That's such a good time, well done! Are you using any particular programme to consolidate? Or just running 5K?

Thanks! 😊 Not really, I saw a post on here about doing 20 / 30 / 35 min across a week which I liked the sound of but also quite like pushing towards 30 mins or 5k. Do you have any recommendations?

My first consolidation run I used the C25K+ podcast which makes you run to the beat of the music, gradually increasing your speed, but it was a bit too fast for me. But as you're faster than I am (I'm currently about a 38 min, 5K), that might be a good option? It's with Laura from the app, but the music is non-commercial and is not everyone's cup of tea!

My next two runs I used Nike Running Club app, they have audio guided runs for lots of things based on either speed, time or distance. I did a 35 minute run on Wednesday and a 6K run today. Might try a speed one next time. Basically I need hand holding!

Interesting, maybe I’ll give these a try then! Thanks!

Wow that's impressive - bet you would have faster without the wind to battle!

Indeed! What was funny is that the wind was so strong on this one part than I felt like I was basically running on the spot, but then it turned out I got a PB for that “segment”?! So maybe I was running faster than usual to push through the wind! 💪

There are 3 consolidation runs (podcasts with Laura) on C25k+; Speed, stamina & stepping stones. I’ve done the first two and run 5.3k in 33 minutes this week, 2 weeks after graduating. Loving running!

Im doing the first two on the Magic Plan as there is a training by time version. Interval training really works!
