How many graduates didn’t manage 5k? I’m not near a sub 30 minutes yet and not sure I ever will be. I feel a bit deflated to be honest.

Please tell me I’m not alone?

Me! It’s fine, honest. By going at a comfortable pace you will complete a 30 minute run which is actually amazing. Well done for making it this far, be proud of your achievement.

Thanks. The voice over lady said that I would be doing 30 minutes and a 5k. I was like, oh thanks. I hope to do it eventually but for now I won’t run further, I will just do the 30 minutes

If you listen carefully then it does not say you will be doing 5k at the end.

I was sure she did this morning on run one

She says you will be running 5k or thirty minutes, three times a week.

I can assure you that you are not alone by thinking that you are not the only runner who has not ran 5K by graduation day which is run 3 of week 9, only about 10%of people have managed that, the majority run 3 of week 9 in about 35/40 minutes, time does not matter, the main thing is to run for 30 minutes 3 times in week 9.

Hell no - not alone. It takes me a lot over 30 mins to reach 5K - chipping away at 39:12 at the moment so don't beat yourself up. The key thing for me is that I'm RUNNING! and off the couch! Now I'm consolidating and have a date with 8K next week.

Took me about another 6 months to get sub 30. Many don’t. I really wouldn’t worry about it. Hardly anyone can do sub 30 on graduation.

So I wonder why they say it? It felt really demotivating

It’s more catchy than couch to 30 minutes

Fully agree, took me seven months of consolidation runs before I managed sub 30 mins, but to be honest so long as I run 4 or 5 km or 30 or 35 mins each time I don’t worry too much, it’s the fact you are running which counts. Good luck.

As someone only on week 2 I am in awe of you Graduates. I would be utterly delighted to run 30 mins. Well done. X

This poll answers your question healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Achieving that sub 30 minute 5k has more to do with the fitness level brought into W1 than any magic that C25k confers on anybody.

I think the point is that if you can run for 30 minutes you can almost certainly run 5k even if it takes you longer than that.

I've just done W9R2 today and I am just touching 4km in the 30 minutes. I will probably try to speed up a tiny bit in run 3 so that I am comfortably over 4km, but I realised some time ago that I was not going to be at 5k and I am fine with that. I feel that I have gone from not being a runner to running 30 minutes and I have done it steadily and without injury and that makes me happy and feel I have achieved. There is plenty of time afterwards to build up to 5k.

I have just finished week 8 and I can run the time but not good on the distance. I felt like you but I’m thinking I’m 57 never run before so 28 mins non stop is pretty good. I give the snails a wave as they pass me by. 😁Good luck x

I completed it but didn’t get to 5k did 4 I’m not bothered as it’s about running continually. To go from nothing to 30 mins is the achievement. Well done 👍
