Dont worry too much about the breathing just yet (as long as you remember to do it 🤣).

Focus on the running and do what comes naturally. But, if you're getting out of breath, then you're simply going too fast!

So long as you can hold a conversation or sing a song while you're running, you're doing OK. If you can't, then slow down :-)

Hi well done so far in your journey....during the 5min warm up practice deep breathing in and out.breath in thru your nose and exhale out of your mouth, if that's awkward just do it thru your mouth, the main aim is to get oxygen into your lungs and then your blood flows quickly to your muscles and so on,,,a good tip I use is to breathe in conjunction with your strides,it sounds strange but basically you should be able to still talk or sing while you are doing this,if your out of breath I would slow down.as long as your feet is of the ground you are doing it.good luck 😉

My advice..... just do as your body prompts, you've been doing it all your life without thought.

Slow down your running so it's less effort.

At some point it all comes together, a bit like changing gear when you learned to drive, that moment when you suddenly realise that you didn't have to think about it!!!😊

I had terrible trouble with my breathing and came to the following conclusions. I was running too fast! Even when going slow, you can go slower - that worked for me.

When getting into longer runs try not to obsess about your breathing, your body tends to take care of it for you.

More emphasis on the out breath, and you breath in naturally.

Hope it helps.

If you read the guide to the plan you will find advice on breathing and pacing........you can't breathe properly if you are going so fast that you cannot hold a clear, ungasping conversation as you run.

I generally find in then out works best, although sometimes I try out, then in just for the sake of variety.

Seriously though, as has been mentioned already; if you're finding breathing hard, slow down. Also, don't overthink it. All this attempting to breath in for so many steps, then out for the same number just over complicates things; just find a pace where you can breath with relative comfort and take it from there...
