Do you run with sore legs??

I have been running every other day bar once when I had a 2 day rest between, I am due to start week 7 today but have really sore legs 🤦‍♀️ I could feel them when I was laying in bed after I woke up lol I was digging up grass in the garden yesterday so probably why as I don't normally get sore legs just from running. My question is do I run..... I have read that exercising on sore legs is OK as once your muscles warm up the soreness eases but also am aware with running you have to be careful and advice is generally to take rest day?? Is it just down to how you feel?? I normally get up and put my running gear on straight away and I'm off but this morning I haven't, not sure my legs could cope lol. Thanks

It probably was the digging and using different muscles...warm up really well, maybe some dynamic stretches and then head out... if there is real pain, then give to a miss...but taking it gently, you may find that it helps those aching legs:)

Thank you for the advice, my gut feeling is that it will help but just worried about not being able to complete the run lol the annoying thing is I still have more digging to do 😂

Do you stretch after every run as recommended in the guide to the plan?

Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow.

Many people do not hold their stretches for long enough or put enough effort in. Hold post run stretches for 30 seconds and make sure the pull is strong enough to be on the verge of discomfort.

Do you drink 2.5 -3 litres of fluids each and every day, as recommended in the guide to the plan?

Taking an extra rest day is fine and as the durations increase, maybe you will need to.

Thanks again for the advice, I actually took an extra rest day, well I say rest I was gardening and building a table lol but I ran this morning and made sure I held my stretches strong and for a good 30 seconds when I got home and will do this every time now. I think I need to up my water to, I have a ltr bottle that I full up twice during the day but don't always finish the the 2nd so will aim for more. Great to get these tips from experienced runners, it really helps
