Can we take a moment to appreciate jo Wiley as a running coach? 😂 wish she could be in my ears for life in general "dont give up, you're halfway around the super market. You've prepared for this, you CAN do it, go!"
Thank you Jo for helping me run, big love ❤

I started withJo right from the beginning, my daughter had Michael but couldn’t get on with him so swapped to Jo too! Still take her with me on my consolidation runs, need her in my ear pushing me on!! 👏👏
Absolutely agree I am on consolidation runs now and today 1st run without Jo really missed it but feel now I know how long 5k takes me need to move away from 30mins time. 👍
She was my coach too.....really missed her when I got to the end.....think I may have to put her back on to kick me back in to shape!! Great when you find the right person. Well done you as no matter how good the coach it’s still your head and legs doing this!!
I agree totally. She was the third voiceover I tried and was so encouraged by her chat that I kept her on! Such a good voice to hear on my runs. Shout out for Jo from me too.
I couldn’t agree more, started with Sarah and she was brilliant until I got to week 7 and hit a bit of a mental wall at 20 minutes that I just didn’t”t seem to be able to get past. I was getting incredibly frustrated being out of breath with my muscles burning at just the point Sarah would chip in with “don’t forget to breathe!”, what did she think I was trying to do??? After about 6 attempts at week 7 run 1 the thought occurred to me to switch the person giving tips and encouragement. I though I know i’ll give the original podcaster a go...
She said the same words. At the same point as Sarah. I could have given up there and then I was getting so frustrated. I managed to convince myself that one more go with a different voice was worth a go. I chose Jo and it just clicked, she was saying more or less the same thing but slightly reworded and it was just what I needed to push me past my mental block and find enough control to get my breathing back in check and push on.
Really don”t think I”d have gotten any further without her!
She's fantastic! I changed to Jo on my 2nd or 3rd run & it's been so much better. She's got the right balance of information & tips and such a lovely friendly manner. About to set out on wk8r2 with Jo this morning. I'd love to have her to encourage me to do some housework!!
I love Jo too, the encouragement is so genuine. I am on week 3 and every time I think can’t do this, there she is telling me that of course I can 😃
I listen to her throughout the day playing her show through the BBC Sounds app as I potter around the house, the whole family is in love with her now 🥰
I totally agree. I tried out all the coaches and she was the only one that did it for me. I even took her with me for my first consolidation runs and my first parkrun, before letting her go.
Couldn’t agree more about Jo, love her voice and she’s speaks from experience. I’m only on week 4 but sure she will get me through it. As she says (a lot) you can do this!
I had Michael Johnson. He was great - really calming voice but hey I’ll shout out to Jo and anyone who puts their name to this fabulous programme. Thank yoi
I started with Michael thinking his years experience of running would really help, however I found his voice monotone and not motivational so at the end of w1r1 Jo became my running mate. Having listened to her for years on the radio I felt like I was out running with a life long friend. Personal choice, I know, but I would highly recommend her!!
Spot on Alice! I started with Michael but after a few runs moved to Jo. Found she worked much better for me. Completed w9r3 last Sunday and have repeated w9 this week with Jo encouraging me as ever. Jo is great, as is the app and this support group.
BTW, at 66 with slightly dodgy knees (!) and not a natural, I'd recommend this app as a sure fire way to get moving in a very manageable way. ❤️
Definite shout out for Jo Whiley who keeps me running every time I go out , even though I graduated 2 months ago. She helps to pace me round my runs now. Ironically this morning having finished my run ( I can jog 45 mins now) my music was I'm still standing by Elton John 😂😂
I tried a few of the different narrators but ended up back with Jo. She’s genuinely encouraging and I don’t feel like I’m on my own when she’s chatting away to me. Thanks Jo. 👍
Agree with all these comments, Jo is the best. I feel her encouragement is genuine and its kind of reassuring to know that she too struggled at times along the way! About to start week 8 tomorrow and I'm already dreading the day when she's no longer in my ears on my run! I wish there was a next stage App with Jo!
Agree entirely. Jo was there all the way through my C25K experience and 2 months later is still there as I frequently repeat W9R3 to consolidate and slowly build on pace/distance. Now up to a total distance of just over 7.1km in 42-43 mins, which includes the warm-up/cool-down walking. At graduation, this was <5.8km. Jo is great!
I agree. I found the couch25k really benefitted from encouraging voices such as Jo. I don't think I would have completed the course without this help. Now running is an important part of my life and i hope it will be the same for you.
