Week 6 run 3

Well, following on from my tips, ie, not looking ahead to the next run, staying in the moment, doing exactly what MJ tells me, etc, I have just completed week 6 run 3 !! It felt great though I do have a tendency to run too fast too early on but around 15 minutes in, I seem to find my rhythm. The things I’m a bit surprised at is the health app on my phone that says ‘running and walking distance 5.9km’. OMG !! Can that be ? I’m a slow trotter and where I live is hilly so struggle to find a flat road ! I can only reiterate trust the programme. It really does work !! BTW, Sweaty Betty designs running leggings with a pocket, so my phone is in there !!

Great job... those first minutes are tough for a lot of us, but you’re getting through them which is great... in time you’ll probably want to work on running the first 10 a little slower, but for now what’s working is just great.

Phones tend to be pretty accurate as GPS devices... mine is better than my Garmin watch, and they themselves said this was what they’d expect. That’s if you’re using GPS of course... the health app on mine doesn’t... so the only way to find out how far you’re going would be to use a tracker app, of which there are many. Strava is the most popular, I prefer Nike Run Club, MapMyRun and others also used by people here. If you do decide to start tracking the runs this way, “look but don’t care” is the way to treat the data they show at this stage!

To cover 5.9k in the 35 minutes of W6R3 would need me to do 26 minute 5k pace... which I don’t like running at 🤣.

Anyways... the only important number is that 25 minutes... and the only important thing right now is a 0-10 on how the run makes you feel, and I’m just getting the impression that you’re cranking it up to 11 there.

Thank you for the tips. I agree with you in principle. I used to run on a treadmill and struggled to get 5k in 30 mins ( normally took 37 minutes) which is why I was so surprised when I looked at the health app (purely out of curiosity !) I want to enjoy running/trotting so I certainly will take your advice, particularly as the reason I signed up in the first place was because I was running too fast for myself and wearing myself out !😆

Well done Honor!! I did week 6 R2 this morning- actually looking forward to just running from now on as now I find the stop start harder. Can’t believe I just wrote that!! 3 mins non stop running seemed a big challenge just a few weeks ago!! I also have small hills and I run off road to save my knees- I reckon I must be getting fitter quicker though as the hills are hard. So I try and think of the benefits as I sweat and heave myself up the hill😀 I am very slow but just trot along slowly with my little dog and try to remember to enjoy the weather and scenery!! I also love Laura and her encouragement.

Yes ,there does come a point that once you’re in the zone you want to keep running ! It helps if you have beautiful scenery....... Enjoy !

Realised I am a bit late, but congratulations! Do you mind if I ask about the SB leggings? I am eyeing up the Power Workout ones now, both the ordinary and mesh ones (presumably better for hotter days???) and wondering what the sizing is like? Do they come up big, small, any advice? Many thanks!

Hi, I wear the power workout ones as the material is really light and feel like a second skin. Im 5’3 and wear size S 7/8 length. I’m a size 10 bottom and 12 top !! ( think martini glass as opposed to hour glass. They’re really comfortable as they have seems that run along your thighs and so minimise falling down !! Do the quiz to find your perfect legging / size. That should help ! Good luck 😉
