Doing this with BMI of 34

Is anyone very overweight and doing this? I am actually reasonable fit and walk at least 10K steps a day. Before lockdown I'd started to attend classes at a gym, which I was really enjoying. My main reason to run is to lose weight but I'd love to be in the position where I liked running so much, I wanted to lose weight to run better 😀

Welcome to the forum.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

You will be unlikely to lose weight just by doing C25k.............a forty minute workout does not burn a significant amount of calories.........but if you want to tone up and get fitter there is no better way to get started.

Enjoy your journey.

Thanks. Of course you are correct. The PT at the gym actually thought I wasn't eating enough. Particularly carbs and protein but I found it hard to eat the volume that wanted.

You’ll be surprised how many people will be the same as you. Keep going and good luck.

Yes, I’m a size 18 and around 5 stone heavier than I should be. Will be doing week 4, run 3 tomorrow. I didn’t think I was capable of running for more than a minute four weeks ago. This programme is great! Keep going and well done.

Great. That sounds like me 😀. Well done. Week 4 looks tough. I'm staying W4 on Sunday.

Yes, I started 6 weeks ago and have just completed week 6 run, which is running for 25 minutes. Am also doing a lot of walking and exercise videos in between times and can’t believe I just did this. Running for 1 minute was hard to start with. Still a challenge and am very slow but 😁 You can so long as take it steady so not to much strain on bones.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. You are doing brilliantly and I'm looking forward to saying the same in a few weeks.
