Week 7 run1

Really pleased I didn't stop - I was soooo tempted. Some days you just don't feel like it. But strangely, when I got home, I found that I was running at a faster pace than I have previously. I'm not really concerned about speed, but it does show that how you feel you've done and what the data say about how you've done can be at odds. My breathing is still a bit erratic - I find that if I think about it, it gets more erratic - so just have not to think about it. Maybe I need more interesting podcasts.

Well done, i so know where you are coming from! I’ve just finished W7 run 2 and I only just made it. I had to tell myself that I couldn’t bear not to do it and somehow I kept going, I think I probably was running a bit faster than run 1 and was feeling good until about half way and then realised that I might be in trouble!

My breathing is shocking, mouth open a lot, guess that will improve?

It’s meant to be hot on Friday so I think I’ll have to get out much earlier, which is ok so I will see how it goes.

Glad it's not just me that's having problems with breathing. I've been going at a relatively consistent pace when running, which seems to be my 'natural' running pace, given that it's consistent. Slowing down becomes really hard then because it feels odd - but I should maybe keep trying. I think I'll try run 2 tomorrow rather than Friday - I'm a freckle face & (ex) red head (just white now), so the sun is not my friend.

Hi like you I’ve started week 7 yesterday, it’s getting harder and I do struggle to keep going but I don’t want to go back and repeat weeks. I also suffer from shin splints, so I am now having longer breaks before each run to hopefully help them to recover because once I’m injured I’ll be out of running for months and I’ve done so well to get this far as I’m not a natural runner. I’m also very menopausal and I need to listen to what my body is saying.

Well done for not giving up!!!

Shin splints sound awful - they're definitely up there with things I worry about, so good on you for persisting. I'm far from a natural runner too - I remember doing cross-country at secondary school and finding places to hide so I didn't have to do the whole route, and I haven't run since then. Keep it up - week 7 is almost the end!

Omg you’re my twin I used to hide too and join at the end. I’m only completing 2 runs this week out of wk7 and carry one on to next week, it’s just not worth it, My weeks will be split across 2 weeks now to prevent injury.
