Well done on starting week 8 .Especially in this heat .

But why would you want to go faster ?

Your best development will come by running at a conversational pace

I suppose I think if I don’t start to go faster I will not get 5k done in 30mins I know there is no set time but is it best to run to reach 5k or just run for 30mins and see how far u get

Forget 5k in 30 minutes, it's completely irrelevant.... The program is purely time based.3x30 minute runs on week 9 is all you need to do .

And once you graduate we would recommend consolidating the 30 minute runs before pushing on with distance or pace .

Have a look at this post, and the results of the poll that is linked in the post .

Ha! I’ve been running over 3 years and can run 10k but I’ll never run 5k in 30 minutes so just enjoy

That's a wonderful achievement, well done!

You don't need to worry about speed - the slower the better! I'm into my second week of consolidation runs after graduating and I'm not running 5k in 30 mins 😊

Well done, I'm on week 8 as well and trying to fit runs in when it's cooler. I know I won't be able to get to 5k in 30 minutes (yet) so I'm just focusing on length of time, if I can get to 30 minutes that's enough for now. Wiser heads than mine will advise I'm sure but my thinking is that 5k is something that'll come in time, whether by running faster or longer time will tell. Enjoy the journey, we're nearly there and yes we are fab. 🏃‍♀️😊

Congratulations on getting to run for 28mins.

I completed the C25k a few weeks ago and have been running 5k in just over 32 mins.

Last week I did another run on the treadmill and just for something different, after 5 mins of running at my normal pace I upped the speed to 6.2 mph, which by my calculations is the speed needed to run 5k in 30 mins, just to see what that pace was like.

Well, I was pleased I managed 10 mins at that speed, it was hard, but the difference in effort is considerable. I then slowed the speed down to just below my normal running speed to recover. I stopped at 30 mins which showed 2.8 miles. Overall, about the same (or a bit less) than if I had stuck to my normal running speed for that time.

Unless I hear that some old arthritic three legged tigers have escaped from a zoo nearby, I dont think there is any need for me to run any faster. Even then, I think there are some people that cant run at all so as long as I can beat them, they will get eaten first anyway.

From what I have read here, firstly, speed is less important than time and distance, and secondly, that as you are able to run further, you may be more likely to run the shorter distances quicker.

If you do hear in the news that I have been eaten by a tiger, I'll be the first to admit that I got it wrong. ;)

Good luck

Well done, no one needs to be faster unless they are in a race, just keep running and you will be so much fitter and happier
