Week 8 Run1 ✅ was a good one

Did first run of week 8 this morning. It was very hard getting out of bed. Was a warm night and I didn’t sleep well 😒. Had to tell myself to get out and run as I know by later it’ll be too hot and I’ll be reluctant to go. Anyway it was fine once I was out. Bought myself a running belt for my keys and phone as too warm for jacket now. This worked well. Felt little bit cool for a while but warmed up half way through. My hands seem to stay cold for quite a while then towards the end they’re v sweaty! Also put my phone in it at half way mark as I find myself checking the time too much if I hold it. Just concentrated on the music and the time just sailed past. When Laura said “you’ve got 5 minutes left” I did an audible gasp as i thought I’ve actually almost done this! I felt I could have carried on running I did for about 30 seconds but didn’t want to push it so did a brisk walk back which slowed down quite quickly! Graduation is getting closer and I’m so pleased it feels easier these past couple of runs. I’m enjoying the runs now it’s not such an effort to finish 🏃🏻‍♀️😊

Brilliant positive post... well done you...I think the nights when you sleep badly or heavily can make the run seem less inviting:)

You are doing wonderfully!

Relax into the longer runs now.. start slow and stay slow and just enjoy cruising your way towards that podium:)

Thank you! I do make a conscious effort to stay slow, even more so since the no walking interval runs - it really helps my breathing which I struggled with at the beginning.

Fantastic that you still went out there and did your run, sleep is an issue for me currently, I'm going through the menopause so on some mornings I feel exhausted but I still go and run because I know the positive effect this will have on me and feel so much better having done it, I never regret it and you won't either.

Thank you. Yes i am going through the menopause too hence the restless night. Get too warm and with the weather at the moment it can be unbearable. I know I’ll feel better after a run which is what spurs me onto get out of bed!

Well done! I’m in “the fling off the duvet in the middle of the night brigade” too! Completing W8R1 is great. It was a eureka run for me as I suddenly realised I was enjoying myself! Keep going! 😊🏃‍♀️

Pop a loose sheet in the freezer...gorgeous to fetch out and place under or over you when it gets steamy!😊
