Feeling ☹️

Morning, I’m wondering if it’s ok to put C25K on hold for a while, I’ve got up to W2R2 but my left knee is very painful, I struggled to do 3 runs last week due to being on nightshift and feeling unwell on Friday and Saturday, so I did a run on Wednesday and I forced myself to do a run on Sunday, but I’m not sure if the running is making my knee worse. It’s very sore to bend and kneel down , putting my knee down on the floor etc is agony. I realise my knees are the way they are because of my weight, but I’m actually enjoying doing the C25K. 😕xx

Hi...feel your pain.i would go for a walk for 20mins and see if it's the same effect...and check perhaps the apps tips there are very useful. Good luck 👍

Thank you, being at work for 6 hours was sore enough on my knees. X

It is probably the running that is causing your knee pain.......it is very common for new runners, which is why the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help and are of particular importance to those carrying extra weight. If you do the strengthening exercises you will overcome this.

If you stop running then you will not lose any condition in the first couple of week, but after that there will be a decline in your muscle strength and tone..........use it or lose it is the undeniable fact of the matter.

Hi there, thank u for replying, my knees were sore before I started the C25K, they do crunch a lot to, I am about 20st and I thought that doing this would help me lose weight and I’ve actually wanted to run for a few years, but not had the confidence.

Hi. You can do it...like the app says you can always redo a run.so I wouldn't worry too much...and any form of exercise with a healthy diet will make you lose wait ...however it's a slow process. Willpower is the key.Good Luck.👍

Thank you. I’m struggling to find a knee support that would be good for me , I have very big legs, so has to be something that will fit on my legs and won’t roll up, any advice would be great. X

Welcome to couch25K. It might be worth you doing the podcast with walking and fast walking for a few weeks to see if that helps your knees.

There is also a Healthunlocked forum for weight loss so you may wish to join that too.

Good luck , you’ve taken the right step .

Sorry, I’ve been around too long - c25k was on a podcast before it went onto an app. 🤣🤣. If you play the app (Jo Whiley was my favourite) and slow walk when she says brisk walk, and then brisk walk when she says jog, it will get your body used to the routine for the time stated. If your knees still hurt it might be best to see you GP before moving on to the running.

🤞
