Delighted to have managed Week 5 Run 3

I have religiously NOT looked ahead in C25K, and although I’ve got to Week 5 previously (several years ago) I had forgotten that by the end of Week 5 you are moving into the running only stage. TRUST THE PROGRAMME seems to be a bit of a mantra from the Admins and others on here and this time for me it really is true. I can sense that my stamina is building up and I’m not getting exhausted by the runs.

Any tips for keeping the longer runs going anyone? I find distracting myself by taking note of what’s around me helpful! And going very slow. And then slower.

I've got headspace app and they gave a guided 20 min run that is helpful

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran, some runners like to listen to their favourite music while going on longer runs.

Well done!

Yep going slow works and I listen to podcasts, I find I’m busy listening to what they’re saying and just try to get into a flow

Music doesn’t work for me as I find myself working out how many songs it’ll be before the end then counting them off and you can’t do that with podcasts

I do exactly the same with music 😂 as much as I love it. But I think I need to listen to podcasts because I find my long runs are better when I get lost in my thoughts thinking about something that isn’t “oh god I’m knackered when will this end” xx

It depends what you like but here are 2 I’ve listened to , and that I think fit well with C25K

Are you all using the app then to listen to podcasts as your background ‘music’? I’m using the original Laura podcasts. I feel a strange sense of loyalty to her/them at this stage. She’s got me this far! I kind of trust the music choices too, and imagine they take into account beats per minute and other stuff helpful for running at the point where you are at in the programme.
