Breathing Techniques?

Hello all and happy Friday!

I completed wk2 run 1 this morning and I am loving it. I have a question though - can anyone help me with breathing techniques please? I have Micheal Johnson as my trainer on the app and he says about breathing in for 4 left steps and out for 4 right steps but I can’t seem to get it right and end up gasping a bit.

Any advice gratefully received. 😊

Relax into your running Sarah try not to worry bout the science of breathing ( just remember to breathe 😁) it'll fall into sync with you 👍 just practice being able to maybe recite your name and address whilst running it helps or it helped me

No probs Sarah it's too easy to over- complicate the running, in a word don't keep it simple enjoy it, it'll give you back as much as you put in 👍 go run

Hi Sarah,

Michael Johnson was also my coach , and I thought he was absolutely brilliant and definitely played a massive part in getting me through c25k.

The only thing that I wasn’t sure about though was that advice from him on breathing. That was way too complicated for me, and I stopped trying it after a few more failed attempts.

I agree with IMC50, don’t overthink it and just try to relax and let it happen.
