Just successfully started week 4, and notice that I struggle to get my breathing under control. I’m ok, but need advice. I tend to mouth breath too as my nose runs in the cold! Any tips welcome please

Just breath. Simple. Forget about learning a technique. Breath through your mouth, that's fine. In a week or two from now the strangest thing will happen, you won't be thinking about breathing anymore. As you get stronger and fitter you will naturally get your own technique and your lungs won't be burning anymore.

Ok, if I think about it my breathing has improved since day one. Friends have said in through nose out through mouth , but it doesn’t work for me. I will take your advice and try not to overthink it

Just breathe... the same way you do all the time...:) It works..or must do, if you are writing this post ? :)

Yes Oldfloss! Clearly! Ha ha! I think about it too much when I’m running and it makes it worse!!

If you can't get enough air in, you are running too fast!

Just breathe.

There are times to ignore the advice of friends - and this is one of them 😄. As has been said just do it your way (making sure you are going slowly) and in a week or two it will have resolved itself into your way of breathing whilst running. (The only way I can breathe through my use is going very, very slowly and in warm weather.)

Just breath however to survive and slow down so you stop thinking about breathing.

Week 4 I was busy thinking about how my feet were landing and if my head was wobbling and were my shoulders moving too much and then MJ added the breathing bit!!!

At that point I was trying to suck oxygen in through my eyes and a**e as my mouth wasn’t giving me enough!!

But then it sort of just sorted itself out. I think at the beginning we worry to much if we are ‘doing it’ properly.

Do what ever works for you.

Don't think about it. Run. Air comes in, air goes out. Slow run, enough air, you fine. Very simple.

You think about breathing when walking? No? There you go ;)

I too am an in-and-out through mouth, can't get co-ordinated enough to use my nose. Early on I started thinking about my breathing and forcing it to a pattern then it went haywire. Now it seems to have sorted itself to a breath every 3 steps without me trying to regulate it.

Thank you! I will let it do it’s own thing then!
