Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing all this running for I did a run walk yesterday approximately 6 km I'm in my third month of running 10 weeks I've been eating healthy running like crazy and I've only lost 5 lb it's so depressing
What am I doing this for?: Sometimes I wonder... - Couch to 5K
What am I doing this for?
For quite a while when we first start running we build muscle... and we burn some fat... if both of those happen in balance we can lose no weight at all... but we get a little smaller. I say throw the scales away and use a combination of tape measure and that mirror. Ok, maybe not that extreme... but use a tape measure more!
There are people who are overweight and super fit (a guy twice my size smashed me over a HM in November) and some people are perfect weight and completely unhealthy (that was me arriving here). I’d rather be in the first group... they live longer.
Let the weight come down nice and slowly... the slower it comes off the easier it stays off.
All your goals will be achieved... just keep doing what you’re doing. In 3 months, say 12 weeks, the NHS would have recommended a maximum of 2 lbs a week, with 1lb being better... that’s without the muscle build... don’t stress about it... you’re moving in the right direction and that’s all that success takes.
Thanks, I'll keep going but I do want to lose weight
It’s going... it’ll go... you’re doing the right things... just keep on running, eating well, and the stars will align!
There’s also our good friends on this forum healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... if you feel the need to tweak the nutrition a little... they’re almost as friendly as us!
UnfitNoMore is correct. Muscle weighs twice as much as fat and is, at least, twice as attractive. So you are building beauty step by step. Be patient with yourself and your body.
5lb is great!
Maybe... maybe... run because it is positive and makes you strong. 💪
