As some of you know MrRfc had a transplant 3 years ago which puts him in the extreme vulnerable category of people who have been asked not to have any face to face contact with anyone for 12 weeks.
The guidelines say that I could go out as long as I adopted rigorous social distancing and when in the house be 2 meters apart, eat and sleep in different rooms, use the kitchen at separate times and basically live separate lives in the same house.
For me the only thing I would be doing outside in this climate is running but I went out today and people barged up to me and wouldn’t move to the other side of the pavement when I tried to avoid them so we have decided the safest thing for the both of us is for me to self isolate with him and live our lives together in our house with no outside contact. I would miss him so much if we were in the same house but trying to avoid each other.
I have a cross trainer and weight bench and various videos/podcasts. So I am aiming to keep going with my exercise but just be inventive.
I’ll still be coming on here to get my virtual running fix and I am already looking forward to slowly building up my running when we come through the other end of this.
Stay safe and look after yourself and your loved ones.

You have made the correct decision RFC, just think of it, once everything is back to normal, anything from 3 months to 9 months judging by some news reports today you might even restart with C25K, that would bring back pleasant memories, I am hoping that things will be back to normal at the latest by July, but is that wishful thinking.
That's it though no one knows when things will get back to normal and with me I decided not to upset myself about it as its one of those things beyond my control.
Thinking of you both Realfoodieclub 💕. You are an amazing person and having followed your story on here, I know you would do nothing less than anything for Mr RFC. Take care, use that cross trainer when you can and remember we are all here to chat, whenever. 🙂x
Good luck. You are a great one for the art of the possible, you've had to be, it will stand you in good stead now.
I am planning to run tomorrow in woods near me where I did a lot of C25K, back then I liked all the different rides and paths so I could go in another direction and hide if I spotted anyone... and I guess it will be the same again tomorrow for very different reasons. I'll take you with me (redoing C25K so it is W4R1, podcast)
That's a wise decision and obviously the best way to move forwards Rfc. It won't be easy, do let us know how you are managing and enjoy some indoor exercise. You can shake your tail feathers during Yoga with Adrienne you know!
Thank you. I have been looking at some dance exercise classes on amazon prime. I might give them a go, or maybe turn the music up and just dance just for the fun of it. Take care. Rfc x
You’ve definitely made the wisest and safest decision for you both. It’s hard to believe how blasé some people seem to be about the whole thing. I haven’t run since early December thanks to bursitis in my hip but we went for a socially distant walk today n I couldn’t believe how many people were just carrying on as if it wasn’t happening. We walked my running route and it’s the most people I’ve ever seen on it. Most of them kept their distance but we still had to avoid plenty of them. Stay safe and we’ll see you and Mr Rfc on the other side x
Thank you. Up until Friday I have been going out daily with a little 3.5km. Run one day walk the next. If I saw someone they walked as far to the other side of the pavement as possible and So did I. Saturday was completely different and so was today, for me it was the deciding factor, I just didn’t feel I could keep a safe environment on my runs anymore. Take care. Rfc x
Best stay safe RFC. I had a situation today where water was coming through a wall, I reluctantly went to a hardware store and couldn't believe how blade everyone - staff, customers, even a manager - was about "crowding".
And we are all supposed to be on lockdown now - I'm exempt as we do "structural repairs" but tbph I'd rather not be. There was no way all those asshats at Home Depot were "essential catagory"
Rotten thing about this virus is it doesn't just cull the wilfully ignorant and uncaring
I’m sure you will feel you are doing the right thing as time goes by. No such choice is ever going to be easy. Mr GS is also in the very high risk group, so we are doing something similar. We are looking at our blessings - home and garden and lovely neighbours waving through windows and leaving bits of shopping on our doorstep. Plus video call contact with family and friends. The rest of it, we will figure out. Take great care but be of good cheer. And thanks for all you do you keep this forum going and to cheer & inspire the rest of us.
Thank you. Exactly I am sure as we find our routines things will feel more relaxed and then we be over the other side of it before we know it. Take care of you both. Rfc x
The really great thing is that if you’re both self isolating for 12 weeks, that 2m rule doesn’t apply. Have lots of happy times cuddled up on that couch... when the time comes, you know how to get off it again.
Stay safe my friend... this time doesn’t have to be a negative, you and Mr RfC can have date night every night... enjoy!
Best choice, Rfc! Did you read about the French guy who ran a marathon on the balcony of his block of flats? He proved he could do it but commented that his time wasn't very good!!
Thank you. I have a little outdoor space and I just walked as much of a lap as I could with my garmin and it came to 200 mtr. I might do something with that. Take care. Fc x
That’s a good decision. I’m on that list too as I’m immunosuppressed. So we are both self isolating. I have a spin bike, a hula hoop, weights and some audio and video exercise sessions. So plan is to do an equivalent amount of exercise as I was doing. I will just be using different muscles which could be good. 😊
It will fly past. And I have this image of me emerging like a new butterfly, The reality will probably be very different but I can aim high 😂😂😂. Take care and look after yourselves. Rfc x
Right decision and I am just sorry that people are so irresponsible and selfish. There was that man who ran the marathon on his balcony in Italy? The cross trainer will be a good substitute and no doubt C25k will come up with an alternative any minute now to adapt for people who cannot go out. Keep posting and we will be here to support
Bless you sweetie, thank you. Looking forward to reading the tips about running indoors. I dug out my rebounder yesterday and put the legs back on it. I can take that outside on sunny days. Take care of you and yours. Lots of love. Rfc x
I have had the same experience outdoors this weekend. So disappointing. Take care RFC and Mr RFC. Hope you find some food for the soul as well as your weights etc. There does seem to be a wealth of stuff available online. Wishing you well and hoping this will all be behind us in the shortest possible time.
Thank you. I have amazon prime and they have a lot free exercise videos with the membership as well. This weekend was craziness to be honest I was shocked. Take care. Rfc x
I was thinking about you yesterday Rfc when I was reading the list of vulnerable people, trying to fathom out which staff (if any) fell into these categories.
It is such a shame that people are not compliant with social distancing, but they aren't, and that is where we are.
I think that you have made the right decision for you. Take care of yourselves, and stay healthy 🤗
Thank you. I do think that over the last couple of weeks how the majority have adapted is wonderful, the minority will get there I am sure. Take care. Rfc x
I think that would be my choice too. OH and I are trying to do our bit keeping away from the grandchildren and only going to shops when necessary. I was amazed yesterday at how many folk, whole families ,were out walking. Which was lovely to see, from the required distance. BUT the photos I saw and heard about in parks, seaside resorts and national parks makes me so cross. Just like this panic buying there are some very odd people in society who, like fast speeding drivers, probably won’t be the ones to suffer from this. I find selfish irresponsible behaviour very gauling! Stay safe and well xx
My elderly neighbours felt just the same on Saturday RFC. All week they had been able to keep their distance and be independent, but something happened at the weekend, and they’ve now accepted my offer to do their shopping for them.
I cannot understand the way some people are reacting to this, and just not getting the message about distancing themselves.
Love to all of you who are on lock down or self isolating. We will get through this and if we have to start C25k again, we will do it altogether .
That is so nice of you. To be honest this weekend was a bit scary, up until then I had been walking running alternate days, a nice little 3.5km route and it was great, at the weekend that just became unsafe. We will come out stronger and with great communities. Take care. Rfc x
This has to be the right decision for you both. A Spanish friend in serious lockdown told me about the Instagram hashtag #yoentrenaencasa (I’m training at home). So many people showing how they are keeping fit in flats and apartments. Inspiring!
Oh my Rfc! Very sensible decision but hard, at least you have each other 😊 I found the print outs of the exercise plan you devised and was thinking of starting that again (since I got on well with it last time). I haven’t run for 3 weeks due to cold/laryngitis but hope to get a run in this week because it is my 4year C25K Runiversary on Friday!
Look forward to hearing about your exercise plan and progress 😊 Take care
