Have had to give myself a break from the programme, two and a half weeks, after a nasty bout of flu and bronchitis. I have been champing at the bit somewhat whilst convalescing. I'm more or less back to full fitness (unfitness?) now but still a bit chesty and mild cough. This morning I decided I am not going to wait anymore and went for a run. Decided to start where I left off which was W4R1 so R2 it was. Very windy this morning as the photo will testify so went running on a less exposed track out of the wind, part of the National Cycle Route. I was expecting it to be hard having had quite a long break, and yes, I was experiencing some pain in the shins but nowhere near enough to deter me. I did have some piriformis pain too which seemed more acute than I have had before, hoping it's because of the long break and it will improve. Anyway I ran/walked for a total of 3.9 Kms, and I ran/walked a mile of it in the quickest time for me so far, just over 12 mins. Hope I haven't pushed it too far especially as I m not fully recovered.
Anyway, it feels good to be back up and running. If I carry on at this rate I'll be joining my local park run soon.
