Hi. I have recently put on quite a bit of weight. As a result I came close to failing fitness bleep test at work. I feel lethargic and mental health is suffering somewhat. I used to jog and would love to start again but am fearful.

Hi there - good idea to get into running again. If you look through the messages on this lovely site you’ll find loads of inspiration and support. And as someone who used to jog, you’re already way beyond the stage many (most?) of us were at when we started C25k. So - open the app, choose your coach, get some music sorted, lace up and take the first, hardest step, out the door. Will be watching out for your updates!
Then you've come to the right place.

No one is asking you to run fast, just run. You can do it, and for every session you acheive, you're going to feel better.
What are you fearful of? That you can't do it... won't know til you try. That you won't stick with it... won't know til you try. That it will be hard? Well... not much in life is easy. 👍🏻😁 go on, give it a go!
You will need to find your motivation, but when you are ready, we are here. We will encourage you, answer questions, and help you celebrate the victories like week1run1. Just go out and do it. You don’t have to be fast, or elegant, or even finish. Just have to get off your bum and try. The forum is full of people that started just like you, myself included. I started on quitters day this year. Be brave.
don't ever be fearful, i'm in my fourties, and only took up running about two years ago ... i am by no means a fantastic runner but i get out and i thoroughly enjoy it, it has helped me with my mental health and is contributing to nearly loosing a stone since new years day ... some days are a struggle when i don't want to get up for an early run and i have had the odd heckle out whilst running ... being short and overweight i have issues with my body image however running helps and having gone from 5k to 10k and 4 half marathons last year, when you run in a group you are all the same and the support you give each other and that the public gives as well is second to none ... start small and build up do a c25k you won't regret it
Thank you so much for your kind reply and helping me with my fear and giving me motivation. Inspirational. Thank you
Give it a go👍 go slowly set small goals you'll surprise yourself !!
