Half way house, blossom and birdsong

Well we’re over the top now, running downhill now to the 5km mark. Well that’s how I’m going to think about it as I’ve heard how tough the next week can be so I’m strapping on the positive thinking and putting on my sunglasses 😎 ready for the storm.

We ran early yesterday as I had a busy day ahead. Having decided to stop thinking about Distance ‘Daft Brain’ decided to think about Time instead, checking the time very few seconds.

‘Are we nearly there yet?’ ‘How long left till we walk?’ Quite childlike really. 👶

So I’ve been encouraging the fretting child to look up and listen so she can stop thinking about what’s coming next.

Today we saw blackthorn blossom in the hedgerow for the first time, pheasants and crows were surveying the newly ploughed fields, a Jenny Wren flew across in front of us, the Alexander’s are in bud. We tuned into the birdsong instead of the ticking of the clock.

This would have been the view from our route 2 years ago today!

Well done on your run. A lovely post and photo. It looks and sounds like your route is beautiful whatever the weather throws at you!

Thank you. Yes, we are lucky to run some country lanes straight from our village, they are not looking so pretty at the moment with all the mud and rain, roll on Springtime.

I know what you mean! My normal route takes me onto the heathland commons where I live, but they are so boggy at the moment that I return home looking like I have done a tough mudder! It has made me try out new routes though, which are less muddy and that has added a bit of variety over the past week.

At least no snow now then, these last few weeks are as tough as you let them be, i had heard they were tough so insisted we went even slower and began to enjoy them although i do like running as far as i want rather than to a time

Thanks, I will think ‘enjoy’ ‘enjoy’ and hopefully that will do it 😃
