Hello! New here!

This morning I completed run one on week 3, and have been doing really well- even enjoying it. However this afternoon I’ve struggled with leg ache and fatigue which I’ve only had when I did my very first run on week 1. Is this normal and to be expected? I feel a bit deflated like I’m not making progress. It’s been hard to keep up with my 3 year old this afternoon!

Anyway, nice to be here!!

X

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow.

Good hydration is also crucial and there is advice in the guide about this.

Enjoy your journey.

I had to stop completely after finishing week 2 as my knees were so painful.I was so deflated! But two weeks of rest and I started again from the beginning, and am now about to go on to week 3. Knees so much better.. Hang on in there and you will get there.!

I had similar issue around beginning of week 2. I took advice from here and did strengthening leg exercises before and after run. Worked for me. Some strengthening on days before runs good too ( yoga, Pilates work for me). Keep it up. You’ll get there

How's that running DD?
