Tuesday morning is my benchmark run where I do exactly 30 minutes on the same route. This morning I ran for 180 more meters and reduced my average pace by 14 seconds
This is my biggest increase yet which I put down to my Saturday runs getting progressively longer which means a mere 30 minute run gets easier every time.
Incidentally, Strava is clever enough to see when you are doing the same route and gives you a graph showing your improvements which I didn't know until this morning.
Also had a Doctors appointment this morning, my blood pressure is in the excellent range (He was quite surprised because I'm still a lot overweight) and I've now lost 13lbs. Woo Hoo
Happy Running Everyone

Love it mate. Keep working, keep posting, keep being you. Love itπ
I think everybody in the UK would like to be running in NZ at the moment. Not at all jealousπ€₯. So much rain here we'll have to start triathlon training soon. πββοΈ
Well done on the great improvements all round πππππββοΈ
Hiya, what a great idea and what fantastic progress, so good to hear how others are moving forward (literally Thanks for the info about Strava, we used this for the first time yesterday and will use the same route quite a bit so I will be very interested to compare runs. Thanks π
That's interesting about strava - I don't currently use it, but I have run all my runs bar one on the same route so my fitbit records it. I might look into it after graduation π
Fitbit will output to Strava I think. I used it for years and linked it up a while back when I was supposed to start cycling (fail!)
I use a Garmin now which seamlessly outputs your run to Strava and Nike Run Club, I use the free version of Strava and its great, the Nike Run Club is totally free and similar to Strava in some respects but with a lot more coached running.
Yes I have heard good things about the Nike running app, I'm going to have a look at that too π
I am a little obsessed with the numbers too - can't wait when I finish a run to check how far and the splits! It's still measuring the warm up and cool down at the moment, but I find it really spurs me on to try and do better next time π
I stopped recording the warm ups and cool downs around week 8 I think, once you reach 30 minutes which I think you are? then just record your running, IMHO this gives you a better benchmark over time. I actually slowed down a little during my consolidation period and it's only now that I'm doing a longer run every Saturday that my 30 minute run is really improving. NRC was great after graduation because I missed being told what to do and it has a lot of different coached runs from short intervals to full on Marathon training and everything in between.
ππΌπππΌ Best thing of all: youβre loving it. ππ Thatβs what keeps us all going I the end. Well done on the improvements. ππΌ
Well done Rigpig. This is very encouraging! I am nowhere near as structured as this so am learning from you all the time. It's a good idea to do the same route for 30 minutes to see your improvement - don't you get bored with the route? I suppose not as the seasons change and the scenery will change too. I'm going to try this. Not today as I'm just back from Rome (π₯±π€ͺ) so I'm going to do my 15 minute run this afternoon to break myself in gently - I'll see how I go - who knows I might just find myself running and running π€£
Such great improvement from you. I expect you're buzzing - why wouldn't you be? π
I work away from home Monday to Friday and have a little studio flat until I started running I only knew the route to work and back really so itβs good to actually see whatβs down the side roads, itβs all residential avenues and quite easy to pick a new route, Iβve been walking quite a bit in my rest days and looking for new routes because it wonβt be long before I need to make my benchmark a little longer π
