Week Five....

Well, I managed to run for 11 mins on Sunday and Monday. It’s getting easier. My knee was a little sore this morning but I’m guessing that’s due to me not resting in between. Resting tonight and then it’s wk5/3 tomorrow evening. Ready for wk6 next Sunday. I’m getting there. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Glad that your runs are getting easier, to avoid getting your knee sore you must rest, no running on consecutive days, take all the runs of week 5 slow and steady, especially run 3.

Strapping your knee might help. Even if it doesn't aid recovery, it might remind you to rest.

I have my knee well supported. I can’t really avoid some ‘consecutive running’ it’s the way the groups work. I could go out and run on my own but I can only do this at night and at weekends due to work commitments. Hopefully when I ‘graduate’ I’ll be able to spread it out a bit more 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

You can avoid consecutive running but it means the programme will take a little longer, which may be preferable to getting injured. You’re an adult and can make up your own mind but if this is going to change your life does it matter if it takes, say, twelve weeks instead of nine? Unless the group isn’t flexible enough for that. It’s one disadvantage of a group programme that it puts pressure on some members to do more than they should just to keep up with the rest.

I have a knee support with a hole in for the patella and it's a godsend. Keeps everything in place and has allowed me to keep training.
