Did W6R1 tonight, I have found I have an annoying habit that is a real pain in the neck. During w5r3 I started getting this stiffness and achey pain in the neck, though tonight it was nor as bad, I can feel I am tensing my arms that is causing the pain, when I felt it coming on I would try and relax out my arms, any idea how to overcome this niggling pain?

Pain in the neck?
Don’t know if this will help but what I do, advice from this lovely place is...........
Run tall, imagine you’ve got a balloon 🎈 on top of your head, pulling you up
Relax your hands, imagine a crisp between your thumb and forefinger ( you aim to not crush it ) or my personal favourite, an egg in each hand ( fresh, not hard boiled 😉) you’re just cradling them.
Keep your shoulders down and relaxed, not hunched and forwards. Keep space between your ears and shoulders.
I usually hunch up at some point so I shake my arms out, release the tension and hold my head up again,
Hope some of that makes sense? 🌶x
I like the advice from Jalapeño. I just posted to say I get neck pain a lot and when running I don’t realise that I’m tending my shoulders at first but often have to shake out my arms. I try to draw a contrast between when I really use them (getting up a hill) and when I can let go again.
Hi T2r! If I feel my shoulders are tensing up (I can tell when they’re up round my ears!) I just try and drop them right down and give my arms and hands a good shaking out by my sides. At the same time I take a deep breath and let it right out.
Shake 'em out....on your warm up walk... do some windmill arms.. some shoulder shrugs...
Jalapenolover101 is spot on... a bag of crisps held lightly in each hand is my personal favourite...hold gently.
Try to land lightly, relax. kiss the ground with your feet and at intervals, as you are doing... shake it all out again
Do check out the strength and flex forum for exercise here too which could be helpful!
Try these for general, let it all go...
Carrying anything in your hands can create muscular asymmetries and cause neck and shoulder aches.
