It has been quite a day. I had to go to Hoxton this morning for a medical check and so took the opportunity to have a wander around Shoreditch before walking back to Aldgate for the tube. That got me to 10,000 steps.
I got home, had a light lunch, and then headed out for W4R2. I was a bit worried at running only 15 to 20 minutes after eating, but I was really looking forward to getting out there! It went really well.
This evening I went out for my customary 6 km postprandial walk and hit nearly 27,000 steps for the day. Part way through the walk and I had to run to cross a busy road, I got to the opposite kerb and just carried on running. I only jogged for perhaps 150 metres, but it just felt so good. This is becoming addictive...

Have you ever considered (or done) walking a half marathon. Sounds like you could do it. It’s something I think about but have never got around to.... maybe this summer.
Glad you are enjoying c25k. Good luck! Keep going!
Is a walking half marathon a thing? Do you race it? I walk 13 miles regularly. I'd consider 18 miles or so a day walk and I'm pretty sure I've walked a full marathon distance before now.
Yes it is. I think that I could walk it fairly fast. My walking pace is maybe as fast as some people’s run pace. I’m sure that running a half marathon would be too much for me, but I reckon I could walk it.
Sorry, I don’t live in the UK, so I don’t know where you would go to find one. I’m in Canada and I know where to go to find them here. They are usually mixed in with the running half marathons and marathons, maybe just with a different start time. Hopefully somebody else will pick up on our thread and let you know. Fingers crossed 🤞.
I think that speed does not matter, finishing is what counts. I learned to run years ago with a running shop, their phrase was to cross the finishing line ‘upright and smiling’. It always made me smile because the alternative was kinda grim.
When it comes to running I’m definitely not fast. A plodder for sure.🙂
It has never occurred to me that you could do that. I walked or ran about 18 km today, admittedly in four sections with big breaks. So the 21 km of a half marathon does sound achievable with a bit of training. But is it a thing in the UK? A quick Google and I found the Thames Bridge Challenge in September - zig-zagging across 16 London bridges (thamespathchallenge.com/tha... for 25 km. A bit more of a stretch but it does sound rather fun.
Well done. It is becoming addictive for me also. Packed my runners to have a run in Hyde Park because I happened to be in London for the weekend
. Also had a long dental appointment last week so was going to be short of time so took my running gear with me and ran around the streets for 30 mins after my dental appointment. This is not like me at all!! Something had just clicked.
