Week 5 wall

Struggled on Monday with w5 r2 after 5 rest days with an achy hip, fast walking at pretty much my usual trotting speed for the last couple of minutes. So today I went back and did w5 r1 again and that was tougher than the first time I did it as well! 😫

Anyone else found w5 particularly tricksy, and any top tips to get my over/through the wall?

Slow is the name of the game.

You can certainly do this after completing wk4.

Get yourself mentally prepared before you go.

Think about how you are going to approach that point when it gets tough. What are you going to do, how will you push yourself through?

Trust me, start off slower than normal, if you start to struggle, slow down even more.

You can do this!

Slow, slow, slow!

Well done for getting through to week 5.

We all have tough runs and tough parts of the programme. It can feel like a struggle but it's mainly in the mind by this stage.

A few factors could have impacted - maybe you were a little tense because you were worried about your hip after the previous run; maybe on your second attempt at run 1 you were carrying through your previous thoughts from the difficulties.

I've had a few niggles through the programme - knees, back, hips but it seems it's best to approach each run separately and not see having to repeat a run as a disappointment.

It's cold and winter and maybe it's just a bad few days.

Don't be tough on yourself and overthink it and I bet you'll be fine.

The top tip is always to take it slowly - as slow as you can go. If you feel ok you can up it, bit by bit πŸ‘πŸ˜
