W6R1 - hip injury

Hi all,

This post is really just to vent as I don’t know any other runners!

I did W6R1 last Saturday and found the next day my hip was strained, I think I can pinpoint what has done it. In the last 2 minutes I got cocky and had spurt of energy so went for it full whack up a slight hill - big mistake!!

So I resentfully had a week off. I was frustrated, sad and worried that I had injured myself and that my time off would make it harder for me to get back into running.

I had my week off, my hip was feeling ok but I could still feel a slight dull ache but I had a go this morning and I repeated W6R1. It was one of the best runs I have had, I wasn’t out of breath and felt I had loads of energy. I also took it really slow as I was weary of my hip. Very happy until a few hours later the pain started again 😡

So I have officially learnt my lesson!! Another week or however long it takes until I feel no pain!!

Anyone else get frustrated when you can’t run? Please share!

I do have some slight relief that it wasn’t hard to get back into 😊

We all feel a bit flustrated whenever we get a injury and can't run, you had your run and later the pain in your hip came back, I hope it won't be long before the pain complely goes.

Being injured sucks but not running is awful! Take it easy, and here’s hoping your next comeback run doesn’t result in pain.

Be very careful!! I ignored my hip pain last summer and it got worse and worse. Still got the tail end of it now!! It was right in the side of my hip where the leg joins and after months of doc giving me painkillers and saying rest for few days, I went to chiropractic. She diagnosed a weak gluteus minor due to tight hip flexors and did a couple of adjustments. Felt heaps better immediately but have been back 2 more times now and my Pilates lady has given me Hip Flexor exercises, which really help.

If this sounds like you this is worth a read triggerpointtherapist.com/b...

Good luck with your hip 🤞

Yes, I had to take 6 weeks off with my Achilles, and it was frustrating, but also necessary. Take care 😁
