W6R1 ouch injury setback...be smart

Been making great progress and despite warm ups and dynamic stretches I've managed to strain my right heel /tendon.

I felt it going during the last 5 min run and slowed the steps down and kept them and my cadence going but alas yes I've done something to it.

Rest and ice and massage for few days definitely no jogging.... Damn you over 40s!

Ouch. Take it easy.

If it's an Achilles problem, it's probably started from your calves gradually tightening up. Get to a good sports physio quick and fingers crossed they'll start treatment early. If you just rest it for a while and then run again it may just get worse.

Hopefully you've caught it in time and can yourself sorted quickly....

Sometimes these things happen... I’m getting back off the injury couch again this week. You can do everything right and still pull something. Hope it heals fast for you mate.

It’s not about being over 40. it’s more to do with trying to go too quick I’d suggest😃. We do say go ever so slowly 🤷‍♀️

When folks talk about cadence it arouses my suspicions 😁

Anyway you’re benched now so can reflect on it while you mend. Ice is fantastic so keep a batch of frozen lumps in the freezer. I used Marge tubs or anything that will hold a slab of ice basically. Play That over your painful area as often as you can. I’ve found ice to be the best thing

Good luck, take care, and you’ll soon be back out there 😃👍🏃‍♂️

There's significantly more hair on display there than I can offer.

Cheers peeps.

I went at the same pace as usual but I think it may have been a tight muscle and the associated pressure of jogging on it.

By cadence I probably meant I tried my best to ensure I wasn't plodding up and down on it and kept forward momentum.

Ice is my new friend and physio booked in for Friday. Earliest appointment available.

We get niggles and tweaks. A physio will tell you to rest, ice blah blah. I’d do all that before going to see him.

Fears confirmed... No jogging for at least 2 weeks and then it needs to be light.

Gutted!

I'm not put off but it's clear my body needs some strengthening and conditioning so I'm going to spend the next 6 weeks doing exactly that.

Cycling is my new low impact exercise friend now what's the cycling C25K equivalent.. Hmmmm

Don't worry (not that I'm expecting anyone to worry but the replies on this forum do make you feel loved) I will complete C25K soon! I will not be defeated....
