Week 5 run 3

I have started and restarted couch 2 5k about 5 times now and never get very far, usually give up before week 5 but did get to week 6 the last time! Im determined to finish it this time as I really want to get into running and feel fit. I am pretty active with weights etc but not really cardio. A bit nervous about the 20minute run today πŸ™ˆ any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially with how you managed to keep the motivation up to continue!!!

Sheer bloody mindedness on my part, sill running 6 months on. Have faith in yourself and the plan. Take it really slowly and think of us all cheering you on to the end. Making running part of your weekly routine or setting long term goals helps. Having kit set out ready for a run prevent s faffing. Happy running

Same. I recognise every word, especially the sheer bloody mindedness! I found it useful after my Christmas blip too.

Huh I also retired early from teaching. Is it the job that builds resilience to keep us running?

Or do bloody minded people become teachers? πŸ˜‚

There are many retired teachers on C25K, the most famous is Oldfloss.

Best job in the world. It was constantly breaking down computers that forced me out. But, more time for running yay πŸ˜…

Take it really slow from the start and try not to think too much about it, just do it. That is not as easy as it sounds, I know! But I find a good podcast/audiobook really helps distract me and pass the time more quickly somehow 😁

Edit: Just realised you've probably already done it by now?! 🀞

Thanks everyone! I managed to do it, I thought of it like a hill and 10mins was the top, so once I got to 10mins my mind knew I could keep going. I’ve done a few 25min runs in the past when not following C25k but I had a much longer warm up so I was nervous when I only had 5mins this time! The last minute was tough when I got a stitch but I managed to make it 😊😊 all the support made me know I could do it!
