W5R3 with heavy legs

What a beautiful day for a run! Although cold the sun was shining and the sky was blue, lovely. The first 5 minutes of the run my legs felt heavy, but by 10 mins in I’d found a rhythm and just kept going. I had a reggae playlist today and the bass beat was a perfect pace for this 20 minute run. Thoroughly enjoyed it 😁

Lovely to see how far you are running in 28 mins .. am envious! Can’t even do that in 30 mins😂. It is such a lovely day to run and see lots of people out with prams and dogs and bikes. Glad your run ended on upbeat note.. that’s what it’s about 👏

It is lovely out there today, I ran yesterday so only walking today but just back from a nice 5 miles in the sunshine.

Glad you enjoyed your run and got past the "toxic ten" as I've seen it called, great feeling when it clicks and starts to feel right isn't it? I can see how this running becomes addictive. 👍🏃‍♂️

You're back in full effect! Good to see.

Hope there are no niggles after your run

Back on track for graduation soon!

Thanks. No major niggles, just the norm.....I’m now obsessive about 2 rest days, supersonic stretching, eccentric heel drops, and ice, but it works wonders. I am a bit nervous about the longer runs though, as that’s when it all went pear shaped before 😬 but trying not to think about it!

Fingers crossed! Sounds like you're doing all the right things.

It sounds like you have a great schedule. Two days rest should be giving your body plenty of time to do the appropriate healing along with the ice. Congratulations on your regime.

Why oh why are the first 5 minutes of the longer runs so hard? I find this too but once I'm in my stride it's fine. The first couple of minutes I almost think I can't run at all and then it all falls into place. That said, my friend who is a serious distance runner, says the first few minutes are tough for him too!

I don’t know if you’ve heard of what’s know as the “toxic ten” - apparently it’s common place. Here’s a post about it:

healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

It’s good to know it and that if you push through it gets easier, and I mean “easier” rather than “easy”, as it’s never blumin easy! ☺️

Interesting

At least there's a scientific explanation I can hang on to now!

Glad to hear that you're on the road after the archilles tendon issue. (Did I get that right?)

Well done Wenderwoo. That sounds like a very pleasant run in the end :)

I have been to the newmillerdam country park many years ago and to cannon hall near barnsley.
