1st day of a healthier me

Hi I’m Nick, lover of pizza and beer, unfit, a bit overweight but I’m here to change that, just been out with my daughter and completed day one of c25k, here’s to the next 9 weeks 👊

All I can say it 'you will get there.' One run at a time and drink plenty of water and stretch after and you'll be fine. So many people on here will be right behind you. Well done on making start. You've shown courage and now you'll need consistency.

Welcome Nick... the course definitely works.. if you can do week 1 you can do week 2 etc. Good luck.. go slow.. hopefully enjoy.. and hopefully it's something you can continue with longer term 👍

You are still allowed to eat pizza and drink beer while doing C25K, however, I would advise you not to do that just before you go out for a run,.

Congratulations on starting C25K with run 1 of week 1 with your daughter, eat the pizza and drink beer after your run, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 1, good luck for your runs on C25K, remember before you run to drink plenty of water 💦 to avoid dehydration, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, don't run on consecutive days, if you do, you may get a injury.

Congratulations on your first run, I did my first run today too ... there’s some great support on here.

Good luck with this 🙌🏼

Nice one SnazzyPolly, congrats to you too 👍 how did your first run go?

in reply to

I struggled, I wanted to give up halfway through (like I did the first time I tried about 10 months ago) but I’m happy to say I persevered ... I’m looking forward to run 2 😊

in reply to

Yay! Go you 👊 slow and steady is the way to go I think,

You got this 🙌

Thank you for the support guys I’m actually looking forward to run 2 in a couple of days

A very warm welcome. Just a slight warning. This running lark becomes addictive. Before you know it you will be boring family and friends with talk of routes, clothes, weather, etc. But enjoy every minute. Congratulations on making this major change in your life, it is so worth it.

in reply toCandyCool

Haha thank you CandyCool 😊

I'm glad it's addictive and I'm hoping to get hooked! I remember liking my body and the way it moves; now I'm 55 and fatter than ever and the real me is disappearing year on year. So I'm actually, really, truly doing something about it! There's so much positivity and support here, plus I really want to be fit again, so watch this space! I'm willing to support others when I've gained some experience; I'll probably need to lean on a shoulder or two on my journey; life looks good today!

I’m sure you will do wonderfully well Purplemile. The hardest part you have already done. You have acknowledged you need to do something. And you aren’t happy where you are. The rest is much easier. Just remember you cannot outrun your weight so healthy eating is as important. Not just so you have the energy to run but also so you are running carrying less weight. If you pick up a couple of 4 kg weights and jog for 30 seconds and then put them down and jog it’s really amazing the difference. Good luck and stay chatting on the group xx

Congratulations on completing the toughest run of all. Getting out there for the first run is the biggest step you have to take. This programme has a little bit of magic dust. It really works, each run and each week preparing you for what comes next. And this forum is amazingly supportive. Particularly impressive to start in the depths of winter. Good luck and keep us updated with your progress.
