Strength training

Do any of you do strength training in between your runs? I bought a TRX system over Xmas and I really want to use it on my non running days but just wondering if I should leave squats etc until I complete the plan and stick to upper body. Logically I think the stronger my legs the easier it should be to run but don’t want to over do it . What does everyone else do?

I do lots of leg work on my non run days, squats etc really have helped with strengthening my legs and supporting my running. Check out the Strength and Flex forum as there are lots of great posts on there regarding the benefits.

I swim, rowing machine, elliptical and badminton. Try to avoid impact on your leg joints, but most other exercise is ok.

I have always cross trained, I prefer it, I only run twice a week. I had a hamstring issue while building up to my HM last year and my physio gave me a load of exercises including squats but told me not to do them on running days, so I still stick with strengthening leg exercises on non running days. Happy running Rfc x
