W1R1 yippee!

I’ve done the first run after weeks of procrastination. Found that what I found hard was foot pain rather than not being able to run so far. Any tips?

Gait analysis and new shoes

Well done for starting

What are you wearing at the moment and what surface are you running on? Tarmac can be pretty unforgiving. You could try a park, although everywhere is pretty wet underfoot at the moment. Make sure you keep your feet underneath you, not out in front. Land mid foot, roll your foot forward and spring off from the ball. Try to land as lightly as possible, rather than slapping the ground.

I do agree that gait analysis and new shoes is the answer, but it's a big outlay after your first run.

Great tips thank you. I’ll try and pay attention to my form next time as well!

Check that your laces aren't too tight especially if the pain is across the top of the foot.

Congratulations on starting C25K! Some pretty great advice already and I got nothing to add except to say good luck and keep up the good work 💪🏼

Thank you all. It’s pain in the arch of my foot which is strange. These are new trainers I got after gait analysis so i wasn’t sure if it was just getting used to the shape of the insole or not. Love the advice!
