Hello 👋

I’ve not posted for ages! But I’m back to work tomorrow and it’s made me think about this time last year. Long story short.

• Jan, after a tough couple of years my anxiety spiked and I found myself at the doctors.

•Feb, picked up Eat Drink Run a book about a lady who used running to help with mental health. Finished book, downloaded C25K on my phone, it was so hard but I loved the challenge.

• March, plodded on, got through the weeks enjoyed the milestones all whilst being encouraged by Sarah Millican! Listened to the Not Your Average Runner podcast about plus size runners.

•April, completed C25K! Felt fantastic I’d not managed to run for 5k but I’d run for a full 30 mins!!!

•May, kept going!!! 3 x a week eventually running for 5k longer than the 30 mins (still longer than 30mins but 5ks, 5k!!) lots and lots of consolidation runs.

•June, started Park Runs, became addicted to Parkruns!!

•July, started longer runs once a week, signed up for a charity 7.5 k ☺️

•August completed the 7.5k

• September, booked a 10k for 2020

•October,November kept going, 3 runs a week, improving distance, 23 Parkruns at least 3 different courses.

•December, booked a 10 mile run for May 😮

Sorry for long post, but for anyone starting off you will shock yourself! if like me your suffering with anxiety or just looking for a hobby or health kick, just try and don’t expect to be perfect.

Running has made me feel so much better, I’m definitely not perfect I’m overweight, I’m in the last quarter in Parkruns, but I give it a go, it does seem the more you put in you get out.

Good luck!

CDL xx

What a lovely post CDL19! And what a year you’ve had! May you have many more of them! And well done on the park run - as a regular in the last few runners in my local PR, I know how important we are - after all, the tail walkers must have someone to follow mustn’t they!! Happy running!

Thanks for sharing your story CrazyDogLady 😊

This gives me hope! 😂

I am on week 2 - run 2 hopefully tomorrow, but having to run 🏃 after work - have only run in semi darkness 7-8am so far. Can't go before work as I have 6am start so have to make it work somehow 😬

You have done amazing, so glad it helps with your anxiety and mental health - anything that improves that has to be good 😊

Happy running 🏃 hope to see you around 😊

It’s so much easier on the longer days as long as you’re doing your best and not giving up it’s fine, it takes as long as it takes. Enjoy your run, you’ll smash it!

Easily, I struggled to run for 3 mins I’d be waiting counting down the seconds until my walking intervals, the plan really does work ☺️
