Ok so ive not done anything for the past 10days but am on week 6 run 3..

Really struggled more with my breathing than legs and had to slow down & walk for a few mins after 10mins then twice again after further 5min jogs...

Dont think I'll ever manage 25mins...not sure how i managed the 20min a couple of weeks ago!!

Been doing it all in gym..too embarassed to do it outside & fear I'd stop even sooner without timer on treadmill

Help please ??? Feel great after doing it and heart rate up to 168 but recovers within 3mins ( am 53yr and overweight!)

Would it be easier outside?

Mel! Don’t give up you’re doing fantastically!

It’s always really hard with breathing when you have a long break but trust me your next run you’ll smash! Just give yourself a day’s rest and get back to it! Xx

1st run back after a break can feel tougher. Have a rest day try again and go slow .

I love running outside but you are in charge of your pace not the treadmill.

You're definitely not a failure , that would be not even leaving that couch.

It was bound to be tough after a 10 day break. I agree with what's already been said, take a rest day and give it another go.

Just start off slower. You can always kick up the pace in the last minute if you want to. But start slower!

I've only just restarted so I'm no expert but I find being outdoors really helps lift my mood. For what it's worth I dont think you're a failure I think you're amazing. Well done

Easier/harder outdoors? Who know? I've done all my runs outdoors except one when the weather was so bad I needed flippers. I find outdoors physically harder than the treadmill, but mentally easier. The treadmill was mind numbingly boring. It was a real mental struggle to finish and I went home in a temper, rather than on a high. That's just me though, other people prefer the treadmill.

With regards people seeing me running, I worried the first couple of times but then gave up caring. I'm 60 this year and have snow white hair, so I'm sure I stand out but I can't see myself so it's not my problem.

You haven’t failed! You went out. I have only used a treadmill once and found it a lot harder than outside. Outside your cooler and you can enjoy the view. Please don’t worry about being embarrassed you are out there doing it and that is great. Please don’t stop you have come so far.

Gosh yes! I wore my ordinary running leggings for the gym. I was absolutely pouring buckets of sweat by the time I'd finished. Very unpleasant.

Keep going, Happymel. We have all had runs which didn't go well. The important thing is to keep trying. If 25 mins seems too big a goal for now, set yourself some goals that will build you to it. Some people repeat a week before moving to the next one. Find a pace which works for you. Slow and steady is good.

It took me over four months to complete the c25k. And I'm very happy to have achieved it.

As for inside/outside, I have only run outside. I like the variation, change of scene. When it gets hard, I focus on reaching the next lamppost, signpost, corner, and then aim for the next one.

Maybe try to slow down? That usually helps when people are struggling...

It explains the easy conversational pace and addresses breathing..........SLOW DOWWWWN!!!

If you can't breathe you are going too fast.

Don't compare your speed to anybody else's........unless it is your twin in precisely the same physical condition and weight as you. Going slow is easier and more enjoyable and you may actually stick with it........be kind to yourself.

If you want to maintain progress, then three sessions per week is optimal.

Outside would be different.........initially possibly harder, but oh so much more exciting and distracting than a dreadmill.

Relax and enjoy it.

You can do this.

Have read the link you suggested ...briliant and kept thinking of this on this mornings jog

Tried it outisde for the first time..hard! So did week 6 run 2 ..just 2 x 10min jogs very very slow but its nice knowing roughly the distances and feel i could do these again which will make me feeel calmer as i set off next time 🤞

Main issue is my breathing and i cannot go any slower ( could walk faster) any tips ? Was thinking maybe bike in gym on rest days ??
