It's great that you want to start c25k but have you spoken to your doctor before you start as we on here are not medical experts 😊

I just get given naproxen, had surgery on my lower back 7 years ago so not worried about that, it's all good. I will give it a go and if it's a problem will see doc. I'm sure though painkillers will be their solution. Was wondering about wearing a scarf so I have support around neck. I dont want to not try.

As Buddy says, we can and will give you all the encouragement in the world, but the question you've asked needs professional advice.

Good luck 👍

Do please be careful. We are not experts on your situation, and you can be sure no one in this forum is in the business of persuading people not to run. However, under normal circumstances, if you need pain killers to run the advice is don't run. Your situation may well be different though if it's chronic pain and unrelated to running: I ran today with painkillers but running wasn't going to make my toothache worse! But the question you asked does need an expert opinion and if you were concerned enough to ask the question here, I really would suggest asking someone who can give you an informed answer.

Welcome to the forum and well done

on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

We do not give medical advice on this forum, so I would reiterate other's advice to check suitability with your GP.

Running is an impact pastime and there is advice in the guide on minimising it, but it can and does cause serious injury to some, so please take care.

We do not recommend taking painkillers routinely to cope with any pain associated with running.

Take care and enjoy your journey.

Thanks for advise, I've done some reading, and not about to go on a sprint. Slowly and regular

Do please check with your Dr.

No one here is able to give advice to you as everyone is different but I’ve osteopenia, disk degeneration and plantar fasciitis and have just finished this program.

Please listen to your body and if you can continue with this programme (after Drs. advice), take every run ..:SLOW then slower again. It helps get through the half hour. My pace is a snail that’s snoozing but I’m running.

I’ve also found that I need to keep drinking water even on the rest days.

Hope this helps and Good Luck

That's brilliant, YOU can do this, go as slow as you want or need to. I've never been a runner always a couch potato and could never be bothered to exercise.

But running has pushed out of my comfort zone and I love it.

The buzz I get is fantastic, just as long as I don't over do it and try to go too fast or too far.

Good luck and keep 🏃‍♀️

Ps frozen peas are brilliant for plantar fasciitis.
