Week 3 in 8....feels good

I've finally gone up to Level 3 after 2 months. I'm so glad I waited. I had to turn round as I left my drive hobbling due to my old bunion really hurting. There was no way I could run in those again. Changed running shoes to nutty fluorescent ones and set off again. They turned out to be my lucky shoes. Did the whole run JUST and felt I'd moved up. So good to do it in my own time...8 weeks. I definitely feel I'm pushing myself now. Getting fit has given me confidence to just be me.

Hey, that's brilliant, well done you! I'm taking my time on this too, I think it's over 10 weeks since I started, but for numerous reasons I'm just at the end of Week 3. OK, I admit that before I started I expected to be able to run 5K in 9 weeks, as soon as I started I realised it was going to take me much longer than that, plus, although I may have finished the programme, I would certainly be running for 30 minutes, but not necessarily covering 5k in that time. Just do it in your own time, at your own pace and listen to your body. If it aches, you've got it about right, if it hurts you've over-stepped the mark! I know that I WILL finish C25K, but will do it in my own time (it may involve running, but it's not a race). If I struggle to complete a run, it's not a fail, just a practice, if I have to drop back a week to further build my stamina and re-build my self-confidence (for me this is more of a mental challenge than a physical one) I will do without a second thought. Keep on keeping on, you're doing brilliantly, and keep on letting us know how it's going.

Good to hear I'm not the only one 'taking my time' Alast! All along I've ket on a level if I could feel a tightening of my chest even though it could have been my running bra which was a smidge too tight. I wore another one today and felt MUCH better. These are my new togs. Me too on the thinking I could do it in 9 weeks. So funny cos at the end of week 1 I KNEW I wasn't ready for week 2 YET. I once did a 5k and it nearly killed me....as I came round the top of the park where dads were cheering everyone on one said.."I don't like the look of that one...." as I puffed up the hill. I was too out of puff to reply.

You do you! Go at your own pace. It's not a race. I love that you're getting a confidence uplift - it's one of the best parts of fitness!
